Google denies that this battery is required to ring the chime. They claim it is only for backup when power is out. I think GOOGLE is wrong to deny the poor engineering and lack of repair on these units. They will die in about 5 years of use--all the high tech functions, while all the low tech (the bell button) fails. What a joke. THANKS for providing the work around!!!
I obtained a replacement battery and got it in plce in under 1 hour. The doorbell appears to work fu=ine=. HOWEVER, there were two wires from the original battery to the board that were removed and not replaced. I do not know what these were for. I believe GOOGLE has a poor design here. I have the wired device so I would not have to wory about batteries. If there is an internal battery, it should be serviceable BU THE OWNER or have replaceable batteries. Having a $250 device that dies after a set perion and cannot be used because of a dead battery is poor design and disrespect for the consumer. GOOGLE has disappointed me!! They should be ashamed .
