You can purchase aftermarket batteries- but you can’t purchase a BOSE OEM replacement- for that, BOSE requires you to mail the speaker in or bring into a BOSE authorized repair center.

Unfortunately- BOSE has adopted APPLE’s , business motto by locking consumers out of their products to fix or replace batteries, shifting the costs onto the consumer. Like Apple, you can’t buy OEM parts anywhere except through the company- but they won’t send them to you- they demand to install all purchased parts themselves, and provide no transparency of what the problem was. Just a way to keep the consumer stupid and needing them.

With that said- I did purchase 2 aftermarket 3rd party batteries for my SoundLink mini 1 from iFixit- both batteries were DOA- neither worked and when placed across a multimeter, the cells were not charged properly before shipping as they clocked at 6.xx colts… low enough for the speaker charging BMS chip to reject the battery with the red flashing lights of death.

You can’t hack the battery either.

It’s not the speaker- it’s the battery. Do NOT purchase a new battery on I-Fix it, as I traced the cells to being manufactured in Malaysia but priced and marketed as OEM.

ifixit.com is the best resource for “How to’s” and has every tool on the planet for every device- high quality too.

Ifix it parts (especially batteries) are subpar unfortunately and highly overpriced.

use Ifix it as a resource for how to fix any/everything, and their tools are premium- but don’t buy their batteries or parts.

your red flashing light is simple to fix- you need a new battery which are cheap and better on Amazon. The iFixit Battery is NOT OEM, nor sourced from Panasonic nor Sanyo.

Go through Amazon for the battery- the tool is cheaper also and it’s just needed once (Torx).

If you want OEM- yes you’ll pay a lot and their not easy to get but try through BOSE outlet online.

The issue isn’t your speaker though.

Yep- just received my battery from iFixit and installed. Nothing except after a few minutes- rapid flashing red light. Sending mine back. If anyone has a solution- please post. Also, be aware this is the Soundlink Mini 1 version- NOT the Soundlink Mini 2. The Mini 2 has a firmware update available on BOSE website. The Mini 1 original model does not have any firmware updates available (according to BOSE), though peculiarly, the Mini 1 still has a Micro USB jack to plug into a computer. This is obviously only for BOSE technicians then, unless someone knows anything else…?

a rapid flashing red light means the battery is under-voltage from the factory and this cannot be fixed- only replaced with a brand new one. I am sending my battery back and requesting a TESTED replacement. Only issue is they give you a 7 day return policy agreement. This doesnt make sense because I ordered the battery in March, received it a month ago and found it defective on first install 1 hour ago. I’m pushing the return issue regardless.
