Currently, I am a student at the University of North Texas working toward a Master of Arts in Professional and Technical Communication. I chose this path because I love to write, and I love to learn about anything and everything. Technical Communication is a field where I can do both consistently.
After graduation, I would like to write training and instruction manuals for a company in the following industries:
- Defense
- Automotive
- Airline
- Space
I bring five years of military experience to the table, including one year as a military journalist. Some of my proudest accolades are the awards I won for articles I wrote and photos I captured, but the achievement I hold in the highest regard is maintaining a 4.0 GPA so far at UNT. I treat my schooling like a full-time job, doing everything I can to be successful, which is also why I am a volunteer in the UNT Eagle Technical Communicators student organization.
For ifixit, I will be working on a group project where we will write a replacement guide for the Motorola V190 cell phone. It will be a great learning experience and test for real world application after school, so I am excited for the opportunity.
When I’m not working toward my professional life, I’m happily seeking personal growth. Everyday, I swim laps at the pool, read novels or interesting works of non-fiction, chip away at an ongoing screenplay or novel, and continue cultivating my relationship with my beautiful girlfriend. The most interesting thing about me is probably that I took a motorcyle trip around the perimeter of the United States after my honorable discharge from the Army. It was an amazing opportunity to see the American landscape and a perfect transition from soldier to civilian.
