My name is Zaria Bruce and I am majoring in economics at the University of North Texas. My ultimate career goal is to be an orthopedic surgeon. You might ask how medicine has anything to do with economics.  I wanted to explore subjects that interest me in addition to the traditional medicine-related courses like biology and chemistry.  Of course, taking the MCAT and getting into medical school are just prerequisites, so you can pursue any major as long as you fulfill the required coursework.

I am a member of the First-Year Council, a group within the student government association. It’s a club that gives you a glimpse into student government, and its various councils and offers leadership experiences.

I have one mom, one dad, and one annoying brother—but I still love him. My family is my biggest support system, and I’m so grateful for them.

This is my dog, Harmony. I’ve had her for a little over two years, and she’s a miniature schnauzer. Her favorite hobby is barking at doors, but the moment they open, she runs away. I love my dog and miss her so much!
