The device will not charge or indicate that it is charging.

Loose Charger Connection

Make sure the power cable is securely connected to the laptop, and the charging light is on. If the light won’t turn on, try taking the charger out of the outlet and replugging it in. If no success, try finding a different outlet.

Defective Charging Cable

Replace power cable. If the new power cable works, that means you have a defective charging cable. Purchase a new power cable before moving on.

Defective Battery

If the battery will only work when plugged into a charger, or won’t turn on at all, the battery is most likely defective and needs to be replaced. You can find a step by step guide for replacing your battery here [insert link].

Dust Build Up

Dust and Debris may had build up over time inside your fan. You would NOT have to open the laptop.

On the bottom of the HP laptop, you should see vents. Buy/use a canned air spray, followed as directed and remove the dust,. Now that you have removed the dust. Set the laptop upright on a hard surface and sit and listen if you hear if the fan is making a strange noise, if not, you did it!

(Note: Trying closing applications once you are done with them.)

Graphic Driver and/or BIOS is Out of Date

You may be out-of-date with your graphic driver or BIOS. Luckily on HP laptops you could update that internally. Search for “Windows Update Settings” Check if there any updates, if you have Windows 10, update accordingly, Window 7 or 8, follow the directions for Install Updates. Restart your computer.

If your driver is up to date, you may need to update the BIOS (Basic Input, Basic Output) system. On your HP device look for HP Software and Drivers Downloads and search “BIOS” if you see “update” click on and follow the directions as followed. ++https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c0...

I have an Envy x360 that I was just using and it was operating fine. I decided to do a “update and shutdown” to give it a break since I’m on it constantly. I let it rest for about 20 min after shut down and now I can’t get it to turn on. The white light is showing when plugged in so I know it’s fully charged and not totally dead. I just don’t know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
