The Device Will Not Power On

The Moto E4 will not power on.

Battery Placement

Check to make sure that the battery is properly inserted by following the steps listed in the battery replacement guide .

Reboot

Plug the device into any power adapter with an output of five volts at 1 amp. Any computer USB port will do. Allow the phone to charge for at least 5 min. Then, while the phone is charging, hold down the power button for more than ten seconds and wait for a response from the device.

Battery is Faulty

If the phone is being used extensively and the battery is being fully, or nearly, drained every day, it may be the case that the batteries charge capacity has been degrading. To replace the battery, follow the battery replacement guide . To extend the life of the battery, keep the battery from dropping below 10% capacity, and charge the device as often as possible.

Device Will Not Charge

The Moto E4 will not charge.

Broken Charge Cable

To test whether the cable is at fault, use the same cable to charge a different device. If the device shows to be charging, then the Moto E4 is at fault. If the other device does not charge, then use a different cable and repeat the process until one of the cables charges the device. If no cables work, it is likely that the USB port or power adapter being used to charge the device is faulty.

Faulty Charge Port

The Moto E4 charge port may be at fault if the charger and charge cable prove to be functioning properly. In this case the charge port should be checked for debris that could be preventing a connection between it and the charge cable. If there is still no charge, the port itself may need to be replaced. This can be done by following the charging port replacement guide.

Battery is Faulty

If the phone is being used extensively and the battery is being fully, or nearly, drained every day, it may be the case that the batteries charge capacity has been degrading. To replace the battery, follow the battery replacement guide here. To extend the life of the battery, keep the battery from dropping below 10% capacity, and charge the device as often as possible.

Charging Source is Defective

If the source a charger is plugged into is broken, the device will not charge. You may have to diagnose a faulty wall plug adapter or the wall socket itself. The adapter is at a higher risk of wear and tear if the charging cable can be removed as the USB port is worn down after continuously plugging in and unplugging. Try the charger with a different wall plug adapter to test. You should also test a different wall socket as well.

Bluetooth Is Not Connecting

The Moto E4 is not finding detectable Bluetooth devices or allowing Bluetooth functions.

Most common cause

Begin by confirming that the phone is up to date and ensure that the device being connected to has Bluetooth enabled. If possible, it is best to connect with a separate device to confirm that the Bluetooth connection is functioning properly. Make sure that the device appears as an available device in the Bluetooth settings. Once this is completed, go to the Moto E4 settings and confirm that Bluetooth is enabled and reconnect to the Bluetooth device.

Airplane Mode Malfunction

If a connection can’t be made after the previous steps, confirm that “airplane mode” is not enabled. Even if the “airplane mode” indicator is not on, it may still be enabled. Turn airplane mode on and then off again to confirm that it is not enabled and attempt a connection.

Application Incompatibility

If connecting to a Bluetooth device through an application, confirm that the application is updated. To update an application:

  1. Access the Play Store, and select Menu
  2. Go to My Apps
  3. Update the necessary app if possible (Apps that can be updated will be listed at the top)

The Wi-Fi Is Not Connecting

The Moto E4 is not connecting to Wi-Fi or frequently disconnects.

Your Wireless Router or Modem Crashed

It is possible that the problem is caused by your network equipment crashing. To eliminate this possibility, turn off your router/modem by pressing the power button. Next, unplug the AC adapter from the power source, and let it rest for 30 seconds. Afterwards, plug the AC adapter back into the power source, then press the power button to turn your router/modem back on. Wait until all the lights are on and stable and your Moto E4 reconnects to the Wi-Fi. If your device continues to disconnect from the Wi-Fi, then try one of the following solutions.

There Is A Possible Software Glitch

Your Moto E4 may be experiencing a random glitch that is interfering with its wireless functions. To fix this problem you can soft reset or force restart your phone.

To Soft Reset:

  1. Press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the menu appears
  2. Choose POWER OFF then select OK. Your phone will shut down
  3. After 30 seconds, press the power button to turn the phone back on

To Force Restart:

  1. Press and hold the power button for 10 to 20 seconds
  2. Release the button when the phone restarts
  3. Reconnect to the Wi-Fi after the phone has finished restarting

The Wi-Fi Network Was Corrupted

It is possible that your Wi-Fi network was corrupted. To resolve this problem, you can forget the Wi-Fi network from your device then re-add it.

To forget your Wi-Fi network:

  1. Access SETTINGS from APPS on the home screen
  2. Select Wi-Fi
  3. Touch and hold your Wi-Fi network
  4. Select FORGET NETWORK

To re-add your Wi-Fi network:

  1. Access Wi-Fi from the SETTINGS again
  2. Locate and select the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect to under the list of Wi-Fi networks
  3. Enter the Wi-Fi network password if prompted
  4. Tap CONNECT
  5. Then test your connection once your device has connected

Wi-Fi Network Options Not Appearing

A possible cause for Wi-Fi networks not appearing is that Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot is turned on. If Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot is on, then Wi-Fi is disabled until it is off. To turn off Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot:

  1. Access SETTINGS from APPS on the home screen
  2. Tap MORE under WIRELESS & NETWORKS
  3. Tap TETHERING & PORTABLE HOTSPOT
  4. Tap PORTABLE Wi-Fi HOTSPOT to disable it

There Are Unresponsive Pixels

Unresponsive pixels on your screen will result in black, white, or colored spots that stay even as you swipe to a new screen or open a new app.

There Are Stuck Pixels

The display may have black, white, or colored stuck pixels. To fix this, first try restarting your phone. If that does not resolve the problem, use a pixel detect and fix app.

To use a pixel detect and fix app:

  1. Tap the Google Play app store
  2. Search “pixel detect and fix” app
  3. Download an app
  4. Run the app and follow its instructions

There Are Dead Pixels

The display may have black or white dead pixels. This may be caused by a layer in the LCD cracking. To fix this, install and run Dead Pixels Test and Fix app.

To use Dead Pixels Test and Fix app:

  1. Tap the Google Play app store
  2. Search “Dead Pixels Test and Fix” app
  3. Download the app
  4. Run the app
  5. Tap CHECK DEAD PIXELS
  6. Tap FIX DEAD PIXEL

The Micro SD Card Files Not Detected

The Moto E4 is not detecting inserted micro SD card or files on the micro SD card.

The SD Card is Not Properly Inserted

Start by checking to see if the micro SD card is properly inserted flush with the back of the micro SD card port. If it still is not detected, eject the SD card, re-insert it, and then restart the device.

The SD Card is Not Compatible with the Device

If the micro SD card in the phone is brand new, the following steps are not needed. If the micro SD card was being used in another device before it was used in the Moto E4, the card may be formatted in such a way that is not compatible with the device. If there are files on the SD card that are important, place the SD card back into its original device and move the files back onto that device. Then place the micro SD card back into the Moto E4, and go to the settings app. Click on the tab labeled, “Storage & Memory” and select the micro SD card. The next step is to format the micro SD card. Formatting an SD card deletes anything stored on the card, so make sure that there is nothing on the card that you do not want deleted. Select the option to format the card and format it. This should make the card compatible with the Moto E4.

Underperforming Software

Software runs slowly or quits unexpectedly.

Due to Memory Usage

The Moto E4 has only 2GB of random access memory. This limits its ability to work quickly while completing large tasks. If multiple applications are being run at once, loading times can be expected to increase. Memory dependent navigation apps often slow down phones single-handedly if running in the background. Make sure to close any applications that you do not plan to use in the near future. Doing so should speed up the device.

Due to Storage Bloat

The more data stored on a device the slower it will perform. Typically, the difference in speed is small, but as more information is stored on the device, the more time it takes for the device to filter through all of it. Deleting unused applications and old photos is the easiest way to clear up the device storage. Another option is to use a micro SD card. By pushing all the photos on the device to the micro SD card, space for more actively used storage is created.

Updates

Software plays a large role in the device's performance. If the device is not kept up to date, applications and other features may stop functioning correctly. To update the Moto E4 or find out if it is up to date, go to the settings app and locate the tab called “system updates.” This page will allow you to check for new updates and set the phone to auto update with a Wi-Fi connection.

My Moto 4e 1765 charges fine, it powers up when holding down on/off button. I only hear my device power on, but the screen stays black. I mean not even static snow was showing. I did notice the right side battery contact pen is bent out of shape, therefore not making a proper connection with the battery pack. What could be the problem if that is not the malfunction?

Tim Dwiggins - Antwort

My motoe4 won't allow WiFi calling and says “problem loading management page". It also tried to update the soft ware updates but it never installs.
