Hello! My name is Alison Olivas and I am currently a freshman attending Embry Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a specialization in astronautics. I have always been fascinated with the stars and planets above and the people that want to further explore those worlds. Aerospace engineering allows me to be apart of the process of designing and building the crafts used to visits unknown places in the stars. This major will allow me to work with a top aerospace company.

Projects/Accomplishments
- NIMS Certification- May 2018
- Rocketry Engineering Design and Development Capstone – Member of a 6-person team. Designed and built a two-stage rocket with a student-built flight computer. Accomplished using the engineering design process, with trial and error with the flight computer and other 3-D printed parts
- Engineering Design and Development Capstone (PLTW) – Safe Travels: Member of a four-person team. Researched various problems encountered every day and came up with multiple solutions for a certain problem. Fabricated and tested after using CAD to design a suitcase with a locking wheel mechanism.
Organizations
Since 2018, I have been apart of the National Association of Rocketry, “a non-profit organization dedicated to consumer safety, youth education, and the advancement of technology in the hobby of sport rocketry in the United States” (NAR.org).
Hobbies
Since my sophomore year of high school, I have loved participating in amateur rocketry. Designing and building a rocket from scratch has been very rewarding and very enjoyable.
