Laptop Is Powered on but Losing Charge Quickly

The battery doesn’t last as long as expected

Faulty Charging Port

Check to see if the laptop registers a charge or not when plugged in by checking the light next to adapter port. If the laptop doesn’t register a charge and there is no light next to the adapter, replace the charging port.

Sound Not Playing Through Headphones

Malfunctioning Headphones

First, make sure that your headphones are securely plugged into the headphone jack. If there is still no sound coming through the headphones, check the wire and connections in the headphones. If the wires are fraying or have been pinched, the headphones may not work anymore. If the problem persists, consider finding a repair guide for your headphones or replacing your headphones.

Loose / Faulty Headphone Jack

If your headphones are properly plugged in and undamaged, the issue may be the headphone jack, in which case, replace the headphone jack using this guide.

Computer is on But Not Responsive

The screen freezes and the computer is seemingly unresponsive to input.

Fan / Ventilation Blockage or Malfunction

If the computer is frozen and completely unresponsive, attempt a hard reboot. If the problem still persists, make sure that the vents on the computer aren’t blocked and ensure your fan is operating correctly. If the fan is not operating correctly, or making a hissing or high pitched sound, replace the fan using this guide.

Software Malfunction

If the computer is frozen and completely unresponsive, attempt a hard reboot. After rebooting, update the software to the most recent version. If the screen is still frozen after boot up or the problem persists, consider taking your computer into a resource that can assess the software of the computer and look for a problem and a solution.

Touch Screen Does Not Responding to Touch

Dirty Screen

Shut computer down before cleaning. To clean, apply an approved cleaning solution to a microfiber towel and gently rub the screen until clean.

Outdated Driver Version

Check if an update is available. If one is available, download and install it.

Unpatched Software

First, attempt to restart and update the computer through the Windows menu. The update may contain a patch to fix this issue. If the problem still persists, consider taking your computer into a resource that can assess the software of the computer and look for a problem and a solution. Alternatively, you can reinstall with a clean version of your preferred operating system.

Damaged Screen

The screen is most likely damaged if lines or patterns appear on the screen (either many lines or only a few lines) or black “spots” appear (these spots might be small or might appear later or grow larger in time). If none of these solutions work, and the screen appears to be damaged, you may need to replace your screen, which you can do at this guide.
