Keurig K-Duo Coffee or Water Does Not Reach Target Temperature

Is your Keurig K-Duo water not heating up or reaching the target temperature? Use this troubleshooting guide to help diagnose why.

First check the power, as commonly Keurig’s can be finicky with outlets so first try unplugging then replugging in the power cord to the same or different outlet.

Check the water reservoir. Make sure it is clean and correctly positioned in the machine so that the sensor can read its levels correctly. If the sensor is not reading it right it might not heat up.

Check the hot plate for debris or mineral deposits. Unplug the Keurig and let it cool first. Then gently clean it with a sponge soaked in warm water, do not use harsh scrubbing mechanisms or it could damage the hot plate.

If still not working fill the reservoir with a 1 to 1 ratio of water to white wine vinegar and run a cleaning brew. This can remove excess debris in the machine. Make sure to run a couple more cleaning batches with water to remove leftover vinegar.

After all these tests, if the hot plate is still not working try resetting the machine again. Unplug it for 5-10 minutes to reset the machine. Now once plugged in and fully cleaned the machine should start running again.
