It's not listed in here, but to remove the cd tray, just pull it straight out. The whole drive has a connector at the back.

I replaced the thermal paste, battery, USB port, and sim card tray. The Sim tray broke internally upon removal. Hopefully no pins were bent in the process. Everything else went together pretty well. The rear adhesive may be reusable but I would not recommend it. The precut adhesive I used I am not fond of and may have to redo the seal with some double-sided tape.

Just completed this last night. They weren't kidding when they all say the battery is no fun.

I managed to get it, but doesn't mean the old one wasn't bent like crazy when I was done. I was planning on keeping it as a backup since it wasn't bad, but I don't think I would risk it at this rate. Getting a thin stiff plastic to push through the adhesive along with the spudger helped.

There are a lot of components and boards along the edge of the battery. It's hard to pry without touching them. I saw a guide recommend taking the guts out to remove the battery.

One thing I would recommend while you're in there is to replace the thermal paste. Mine wasn't too bad after a year, but I'm sure it won't make a solid and effective cover on the processor to the heat pipe.

My issues were also the cracked and shattered screen made removing all the adhesive tricky. I was a little wary because it seemed like there was still adhesive on the flat areas on the top and bottom, but after wiping it down with alcohol, applying the adhesive, and putting the screen on, everything holds very well. My adhesive was kind of stretchy, but I was able to get it to sit well enough. Some spots had to overlap because of the extra stretched length, but no noticeable gaps occurred from it.

Will this require new adhesive to put the back back on?
