My name is Matt Wirsch and I’m currently attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
I’m Studying Aeronautical Science, training to be a professional pilot. I’ve wanted to be a pilot for as long as I can remember and my backstory seems to parallel many others pursuing a career in aviation. One way or another I scored a ride in an airplane as a kid and immediately knew that was my calling.
Here’s A picture from an air tour that I took with my family in Alaska.
I’m pretty good at taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and eventually getting them back together with as few extra parts left over as possible. I’m a quick learner and take pride in perfecting my skills, one example of this being my earning of a private pilot certificate at the beginning of summer 2019. Currently I’m working on an Instrument rating and it’s easily being one of the more difficult things I’ve done, but I’m pushing through it!
I have lots of experience repairing various things that I’ve gained from summer jobs working on home remodels, commercial HVAC control system installations, and personal projects at home. When it comes to electronics my experience applies more to rewiring than coding.
I enjoy almost anything outdoors; rock climbing, dirt biking, and just exploring in general. I usually spend my free time hanging out with my dog, preparing for flight lessons, or working on my dirt bike.
This is my dog Cheyanne, a 1 1/2 year old Border Collie German Shepard mix. She’s very Shy but we’re working together to help her trust people more.
