Poor sound quality

The laptop produces distorted sound, faint sound or no sound. 

Speakers are muted or volume is low

Ensure that the volume is turned up on your laptop, the speakers are not muted, and the correct audio device is selected.

Clogged speakers

Make sure the area around your speakers is clear of obstructions and dirt. If there is dust or debris around the speakers gently clean them with a vacuum or canned air.

Faulty drivers

Make sure you have installed the latest sound drivers for you operating system.

Overheating

The device is hot to touch, especially in the in the center of the laptop. The fan is loud or makes no noise.

High CPU usage

High CPU usage may result in increased operating temperatures and low battery life. This is not a cause for concern. Check Task Manager for programs that are consuming excessive resources. Close, uninstall or update programs that use excessive CPU resources.

Clogged fan

A clogged fan may result in excessive operating temperatures. Check the exhaust port for blockages. If there is dust or debris around the exhaust port gently clean the port opening with a vacuum or canned air.

Faulty fan

If the fan makes no noise it is possible that the fan may be broken. Replace the fan with this guide.

Left USB port does not work

When plugging a USB device into this port the computer is not able to identify the device or read any of the content. If trying to use this port to change an external device, it will not charge.

Software issue

The software may not detect a device plugged into the USB port. One way to fix your USB port is to head to the Device Manager in settings. Then click USB controllers, then click update. This should hopefully update the port and get it working again. Another quick fix is to restart the laptop and check again to see if a hardware change has occurred.

Faulty USB Port

If the port does not recognize a device plugged into it and it will not charge a device the port could be defective. If the computer software is up to date as stated above and these problems are still present, the USB port maybe defective.  The USB port would a have to be replaced by replacing the mother board.

Slow device performance

If you are trying to run different application on this computer and it appears to take a while to open these applications. It may also appear to take a while to load content on the internet.    

Software issue

Your computer may be running an out of date software that maybe the root of this problem. Head to setting and look for a section label Updates and click it. In here any software update that are needed will be present. If there are any updated, install them.

High CPU Usage

The CPU in your device carries out the active tasks and processes your device is using. If you can reduce your CPU usage you should experience a smoother device.

Viruses

Your device may have a virus that is affecting the performance of your laptop. Check for this with a trusted security program and clean your device if present.

Faulty Wi-Fi- Card

If you are connected to a reliable Wi-Fi source and your internet experience is slow, the Wi-Fi card may need to be replaced with a new version. See this guide for instructions to replace your Wi-Fi card.

Insufficient RAM

The RAM may not have enough storage to allow the computer to perform properly. The RAM could also be defective and not run properly. To fix this, it would have to be replace with a larger version. Follow this replacement guide to aid with the replacement if your RAM.

CD Stuck in CD-ROM drive

A DVD, CD, or a disk Game is stuck in the CD-ROM drive and cannot be removed.

Eject button issue

Press release eject button found on the CD drive can malfunction causing a CD or a DVD to get stuck inside a CD drive.  First turn on your computer, click on start menu to find file explorer. Left click on file explorer and left click on Computer, then right-click on DVD -drive to select eject from the option to remove the CD.

Software issue

New software updates and certain applications could prevent proper ejection. Restore your laptop using system restore. To do this, right click on start menu and left click on control panel from the list.  Once you are in control panel, Left click on the recovery option then left click on “open system restore” from the list.  Choose the recommended restore to begin system restore.

Improper CD placement

Carefully shake or tap the CD drive to readjust the CD to a proper position. If taping it does not work, remove the CD drive and start taking the CD drive apart carefully by unscrewing the proper screws to remove the CD. Follow this guide for removing the CD drive.

Screen does not turn on

The device appears to have power and its hardware parts such as the fan is running, but the screen does not turn on or stays black.

Loose display cable

A loose display cable prevents your laptop LCD from functioning properly resulting in an unresponsive screen. First, make sure your laptop power is on, move your laptop screen back and forth gently to check for a flickering display. If a flickering display appears, then your laptop screen needs to be taken apart to tighten up the display cable. Follow this repair guide to correctly do the repair.

The screen maybe damaged and may no longer work properly. Follow this repair guide to see how to replace it.

Battery does not charge

The computer works when plugged into an outlet, but once unplugged from that outlet, the battery seems to die shortly after or is not able to keep the device on at all.

Faulty Charger

The charging cable may be faulty and need to be replaced, if charger cable is plugged in and connected and the battery does not begin to charge.
